Step 1: Kick Detection

Advanced accelerometer and gyroscope sensors detect the exact moment of ball contact, measuring impact force up to 8G.

Step 2: Data Collection

During flight, sensors continuously sample at 100Hz, capturing acceleration in all three axes and rotational velocity.

Step 3: Signal Processing

Low-pass filters remove noise while preserving critical data. Peak detection algorithms identify maximum speed and spin.

Step 4: Wireless Transmission

Bluetooth Low Energy transmits processed data to your device in real-time with minimal latency.

Physics Behind the Metrics

Speed Calculation: Peak acceleration during impact is converted to velocity using physics equations v = at.

Spin Rate: Gyroscope measures angular velocity in degrees/second, converted to RPM for readability.

Launch Angle: Derived from flight time using projectile motion equations: θ = arcsin(gt/2v).

Flight Time: Detected when acceleration drops below 0.12G (near free-fall) until impact spike.

Our Mission

We created Spin Off because we believe that professional level sports analytics shouldn't be limited to high level athletes with expensive equipment. Every soccer player deserves access to data-driven insights that can help them improve their technique, track their progress, and achieve their goals. Through combining affordable hardware with powerful AI, we're changing sports stats and making it accessible to players of all levels.

The Journey

October 2025: Initial concept - "What if we could track soccer ball data like professional teams?"

November 2025: Research phase - researching what parts would be best for the build.

December 2025: Prototype 1 - Basic Arduino setup with accelerometer readings

January 2026: Final version - Added a gyroscope, a web page, integrated AI coaching, perfected algorithms. Ready for convention!
